Imagine you'd had the chance to experience musical prodigies like illustrious composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, celebrated violin virtuoso Itzhak Perlman, and renowned opera singer Leontyne Price perform before they became legends.
On Friday, April 17, you'll have the opportunity to hear six breathtaking young classical musicians showcase their talents alongside members of the Oregon Symphony and Oregon Ballet Theatre orchestras at the 26th Young Artists Debut! Van Buren Concerto Concert.
Starting this past November, these extraordinary instrumentalists and vocalists distinguished themselves from a group of over 20 semi-finalists through a series of rigorous auditions for the chance to appear at this unique annual concert dedicated to promoting the performance of classical music by young people in our region.
Past performers have gone on to win international recognition and perform with some of the most prestigious symphonies and opera companies around the world.

Want to be a 27th Young Artists Debut! Van Buren Competition Winner? The application will be available online on 9/1/2020.
Through November 30, we will ask classical instrumentalists and vocalists between the ages of 10-18 (21 for vocalists) to apply!
Winners receive months of intensive coaching by Niel DePonte, MetroArts Inc. Executive Artistic Director & Conductor, Oregon Ballet Theatre Conductor, and Oregon Symphony Principal Percussionist. Winners also receive honoraria, serve as community ambassadors, and become a part of the MetroArts Inc. family. In addition, a Young Artists Debut! Winner will be selected as the All Classical Portland Young Artists In Residence.
The experience culminates when each artist makes their debut, accompanied by members of the Oregon Symphony and Oregon Ballet Theatre orchestras, at the Young Artists Debut! Van Buren Concerto Concert at First United Methodist Church.
